Rio Rancho Downtown Area Homes & Realty

Located less than 15 minutes from Albuquerque and 50 minutes from Santa Fe, Rio Rancho is the third largest and fastest growing city in New Mexico. Key factors that contribute to the growth of Rio Rancho is new businesses coming to Rio Rancho as well as new home builders. The common thread with this city is new.
The Rio Rancho area was originally part of the Alameda Grant, which was created by the Spanish in 1710. By the early twentieth century, much of the land grant had been sold to land investment companies. One large company that took advantage of this is AMREP, who purchased 55,000 acres (220 km2) in 1961 and turned the land into a housing development called "Rio Rancho Estates". It was in the early 1960s that Rio Rancho began to see the first families move in. In addition to that, the population grew tenfold between 1970 and 1980,(wow!) and the City of Rio Rancho was incorporated in 1981. The opening of a large Intel Corporation plant in 1981 had a major economic impact on the city.
Since the early 1990s, Rio Rancho has taken steps to become more independent from neighboring Albuquerque. Some of these steps include the establishment of separate schools and library systems and attracting businesses to the area. The city's latest projects are the Downtown City Centre development area that includes a new city hall building, a multipurpose arena The Santa Ana Star Center, and the Hewlett Packard Customer Care Center.
The Santa Ana Star Center is one of the nicest (and newest) arena’s in New Mexico and is the home for the Scorpions Ice Hockey Team. This arena is also used for various shows and productions in Rio Rancho.
The Hewlett Packard Customer Care Center is the new home for various sales positions and information technology support for Hewlett Packard. Many people are moving to Rio Rancho for these jobs. Hewlett Packard closed down some of their other facilities, one such facility was in Colorado. Today Hewlett Packard is growing very quickly as it expands and develops in the growing city of Rio Rancho.
